I remember middle-aged w*m*n professor chimping at Schopenhauer assertive and vital tone in book: "It is OUTRAGEOUS, it is the philosophy of a 24 year old man!!..." It isn't just the content, they can't accept vigorous logical writing, they feel bulldozed by it

This guy...Rajah Brooke, Lepanto, Battle of Tenochtitlan, Bob Denard, Mike Hoare, so many good ideas out there and they can only do sequels of sequels of capeshit; even redoing some Conrad novels would be good (Lord Jim with Peter O'Toole is pretty good but why no remakes)
