Those who complain about boring bread-and-butter 1950s-60s etc. domestic life don't "get it." I always found memories or images of the Cold War calming and transcendent...the only part of life since 1950 that was arguably outside the program of human domestication...

There is little need to work in a factory. The % of jobs, given modern automation 7 MFG that are truely "dirty" MFG jobs is minuscule...... Thats also a big problem, the lower half of society is almost entirley replaceable by automation.

Rest of USA economy is phony: GDP fueled by consumption, govt./HR makework, etc.; even the "IQ elite" mostly engaged in occupations like law, finance, "innovation" that represent consumption, produce almost nothing that can be sold abroad, skills mostly not transferable abroad

America's main real economy: some tech like Apple products, wonderful weapons (much like Soviet Union at end dependent on high-quality arms exports), Hollyweird/porn...but dubious financial products, lawyering, real estate speculation, etc., etc. you can't sell in Japan/France
