yes! but no the point is slightly different...they're not trying to justify themselves, they're trying to rally their operatives for what's coming

In the past I've done some irl trolling of this kind, I open door for meanfaced w*m*n or blank-slate thot and bow obsequiously with much exaggerated deference...it makes them very uncomfortable and embarrasses everyone present... but it's too high-effort

One week of tedious McCAIN apotheosis and statements of faith--more than for JFK or Neil Armstrong. This isn't for the people: they know no one believes in the pathetic "civil religion" invented ~1950-60. It's to encourage themselves, their operators in intel, security agencies

This is about protecting economic privileges, cronies in favored industries, surveillance of population, etc.; they'll go as far as it takes to defend that and prevent honest inquiry into misdeeds since 1990. Trying to rally themselves with this strident, desperate display

Plato is said to have remarked during a drinking bout "I am happy and thankful to Apollo to have been born a human rather than an animal, a man rather than a woman, and an American rather than a foreigner"

The ancient Greeks had already settled the Americas. It's in the Odyssey...Odysseus travels five days west of Britain...by Plato's time there were bustling manufacturing centers on the eastern coast, but they only refer to this with euphemism
